Hey guys.
Sorry I didn't check in sooner, but my baby was born on Monday. I will look over new developments when I have a second, but it won't be for a little while.

Hey guys. Sorry I didn't check in sooner, but my baby was born on Monday. I will look over new developments when I have a second, but it won't be for a little while. How dare you take time out from planning an Internet game that won't start until the New Year to enjoy one of the most time- and labor-intensive life events most people will ever experience? Have fun with your kid, and come find us again when you have some free time. We'll be here.

I would discourage a mechanism where scum could investigate these dead roles in secret. Allowing scum access to information not available to Town would be game-breakingly bad. i.e. Town role investigator dies but the scum one still lives. Bad bad bad. Hmm. I have a potential fix; I'm going to write up a role description, and see what you think.

Added role description (partial) for Venom. Feedback very much needed on this role, which may or may not be functional.
Also added Spider Man and Bullseye PMs.

Recruitment in a power-role heavy game such as this is dodgy. Traditionally, recruitment has been limited to certain players by design (no Masons, no Detective, etc) because that is too swingy. What are you going to do if the scum manage to recruit a Vigilante? That would be game-breaking. Or are you nullifying powers upon recruitment?

I don't think Lady Deathstrike is going to be a full Vigilante. I think she'll be a one-shot. So if the Scum manage to recruit her, they'll get one bonus kill. I don't think that's too game-breaking. I'm trying to build some redundancy into the roles otherwise. If the Scum recruit Black Widow... well, the Town still has their Tracker, and whatever info Widow gave them, and Deadpool to find Widow, and so on. I think once we get through with all of the Town roles, I'd like to play out as an exercise whether any given role being recruited would break the game. Meanwhile, though, I've updated Lady D's description in this thread. See what you think.

I don't know that I like giving lady deathstrike that particular choice. I don't hate it, I just don't love it. It seems like it adds an unnecessarily clunky element to the role. There is really no good reason for her to not chose the protect/watch part of her ability if everything is going to be one shot. I say drop the straight vig bit and leave her with just the kill protection. That's a plenty cool role on it's own.

I like the venom role. Is there going to be anything else mason-y in the game? If not, then I think it works as an interesting variant on the mason concept. What happens if the person venom bonds to gets recruited after the bonding?

What happens if the person venom bonds to gets recruited after the bonding? No, nothing else Mason-y; Venom and his symbiote-partner would be the only pseudo-Masons in the mix. If one is recruited, the other will not know. I had initially planned to have them both die. I keep going back and forth. If they both die, then it's a powerful disincentive against accepting recruitment, and since recruitment is optional and subject to a bunch of limits already, it seemed like a bad idea in the end.

I saw the signup thread. You totally should have dropped the news items in piecemeal. Maybe a new news item for each person that signed up. That would have been cool.
