BACKGROUND:
Sure, some of these people have fascinating backgrounds, but how many of them were once professional stinking wrestlers? Not many.
You've lived what most people would describe as an incredibly difficult life. Your early years were marked by oppressive poverty, including several stretches of life on the street looking for your mother. Eventually, you were imprisoned when a good-for-nothing "boyfriend" stuck you with stolen goods and bailed. In prison you met wrestler Marian Pouncy, who ran a professional wrestling ring called "The Grapplers;" when both of you were paroled, you joined the Grapplers both in their legit activities and in the series of criminal enterprises they ran by night. Eventually, you were given cybernetic enhancements to aid in your criminal activity; yours in particular allowed you to produce powerful sonic screams that could cause disorientation and even hallucinations in those who heard them.
Eventually, you left the Grapplers and joined the criminal Helmut Zemo in even more elaborate criminal activities, but your long-dormant conscience troubled you more and more as your crimes became darker and darker. When the US Government offered you a chance at amnesty - and a chance to prove your own reformation by joining a team of similarly reformed former criminals to be called "The Thunderbolts," you decided to make the leap.
After the passage of the SHRA, the Thunderbolts - and you in particular - were placed in charge of rounding up recalcitrant superhumans and imprisoning them. You were told that you'd be assigned to security on Ryker's Island, and you gladly accepted the assignment. You traveled to the Island, and now you're here, a guest at a pretty unpleasant party.
But you have a secret. Six days ago, you were approached by Captain America. He argued - rather persuasively - that real redemption for your past lies not in doing what you're told, but in doing what is right. You found yourself legitimately inspired for the first time in your dismal life. You agreed to help Captain America in his attack on Ryker's Island, first by planting the devices that would sever the island from the rest of the world, and then by joining his group for real. Just goes to show: it's never to late to figure out where you're headed.
