Welcome to the game; you are the Improbably Skillful Computer Geek
ALIGNMENT: Town
GENERIC: Investigator
WIN CONDITION: All Scum and malicious third-parties (if any) have been vanquished.
BACKGROUND:
You have spent your life studying computers. In the real world, this would result in your possession of a highly practical skill-set that would likely ensure you gainful employment for the bulk of your life. In the movies, however, this makes you a god. With a few keystrokes, you can access any database, crash any network, and obtain any information; what’s more, you can add pixels to unclear images, reliably impersonate the online persona of anyone on earth, and create a computer virus powerful enough to infect an entirely alien operating system.
Of course, because this is a movie, you are also a painfully awkward shut-in with little to no practical ability to move about comfortably in human society. You have your trusty Macbook Pro (no self-respecting movie Computer Geek would ever even lay a finger on a Windows-based product, after all), and you’ll have to use that to be of help in the quest to rid the world of the Deadite threat.
Fortunately, you have a partner in this endeavor. Her name is Normal Phase, and she is an Improbably Attractive Tomboy. Although you cannot communicate with her directly outside of the game thread, you have known her since your respective childhoods, and so may be assured that she is neither a Deadite nor a third-party actor, nor working with either of the above. She knows the same of you.
Together, you make a crack investigative team; she’ll do the legwork, and you’ll do the nigh-on magical rapid-fire typing. Should one of you die, however, the value of the other as an investigative force will become somewhat muted. Also, then she won’t be able to relieve you of your long-treasured virginity to the strains of 80’s pop in a critical third-act scene. So watch out for one another.
Good luck!
POWERS:
1. You (and the Improbably Attractive Tomboy) are Masons; you may be assured that she is Town, and she will be assured the same of you. Neither of you is vulnerable to any kind of change in alignment under any circumstances.
2. Both you and your partner are among the top-billed stars of this movie. According to the Immutable Law of Horror Movies, neither of you can be killed until at least one hapless peon takes a bullet first. Accordingly, one player who believes him/herself to be vanilla will actually be protecting you and your partner; should either you or she be targeted for a Night or Day kill, this player will die in your place. Once this player is gone, however, you are both fair game. Also, the player in question will not protect you if you are lynched. Beware!
3. Once per Day and once per Night, you may choose one player and perform improbably exhaustive research on them. This will provide you with a unique 5-digit code number representing that player. In the meanwhile, your partner will be investigating deaths and other events, and obtaining a 5-digit code number associated with the perpetrator of each. Combine your efforts, and you can identify the player responsible for any act.
NOTE: Should you die, your notes may be accessible to the right sort of observer.
