I've always liked the
Inventor /Mad Scientist Role. (A guy with a bunch of one-shot devices) which he can then pass out to the others as he sees fit. So a person with a 1shot investigate, protect, vig, etc.
His condition is HE can't use them, but he can certainly pass them out- it's an easy role, and one that's easy to confirm as well- "just give me X tonight" and that'll prove it.
-His only trouble? Making sure he passes the things to a townie vs. a scum. If he gives it to scum, that's a huge advantage there.
-Easy to flavor too, he could be the father/archaeologist who first uncovered the Necronomicon (Originally dead in all the films)
2.
Enablers. Enablers are roles that basically ALLOW another role to function. So an Enabler allows another player to have an ability, until the enabler is removed from the game in some manner, and then the original player loses said abilities. It's a good way to create trust factions of a sort- A "Doctor Enabler" is a person who's existence allows the doctor to continually protect people, until the D.E. dies. When that happens the Doctor becomes an ordinary Townie.
You can have them for Cops, Doctors, Scum if you REALLY wanted to be evil, and of course the "Complicated Enabler" (my personal fav.)
2.5 .
The Complicated Enabler is basically an ability/device that is spread out amongst 2-3 players that DO NOT know the others exist OR what they do OR how they're related.
EX:
-Player 1 basically gets a "You have a button. You may choose to press it or not every night."
Player 2 gets a "You have a strange device, you don't know how it works. You may pick a target each night, it may work it may not."
Player 3 (optional) could be another link in the chain- they could either be a blocker (ie: He could have another device, which if he pushes it, counters Player 1's pushing the button. OR he could be a countermeasure role- where his existence holds back something WORSE for the town, and he knows it.)
- --->An example of this was your role in
BATMAN,
Storyteller. You were a
disabler Doctor. Your existence prevented the creation of Koldanar's Vig character. If you had died, Koldy would have turned into a Vig with conditions (that he HAD to kill off whoever killed you even if they were townie or not). So as long as you lived you prevented such an issue from occurring. I always love those things, and you can easily put that into context of this game (in that you can have roles that desire "vengeance" if X is killed or something like that, or you can always just add nutty scientists to the mix).
3.
Sanities- basically this is a role with a workable flaw- he's a false cop. Every result he gets is the opposite of a true result. We've had plenty of cops and all, but never has a game introduced Sanities. Check 'em out here:
www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Cop#SanitiesIn a game like this with the undead, and everyone paranoid, you could easily get away with sanities, though if you did, you'd need to add a few more cops (as the first guys always going to get lynched when he makes a mistake).
4.
Attourney/lynch/ Johnnie Cochran/ Lynch doctor - this role could go either Townie or Scum.
Basically it's a Day Doctor who only works against Lynches. He chooses a target, and whoever he targets CANNOT be lynched, however only he knows that. He cannot use this ability on himself (thus he CAN be lynched and all). But as long as he lives, that Day's target cannot be lynched. If it occurs, basically he will step in and "save" the role from the noose (you don't have to reveal his name, only that a lawyer will step in and talk them down- and you let him know that, just in case he wants to come up with his own role thusly - if he's not fully playing on the Town's side).
5.
The Tryst- Lovers with a twist- One doesn't know who the other is and there's 3 of them. Basically one is a One shot Vig trying to find his lover, the other is cheating on him with another (and thusly for HER they're the true lovers- if the cheater dies, she'll die too. And if that happens, then our One Shot Vig lover could have the option of dying as well if we see to it, or he could become a full time Vig).
Basically, A-->B lovers. If B dies, A dies.
However, B--->C lovers. If C dies, B dies.
And finally A is looking for C, if A finds C, A kills C, and ends the tryst.
Then A <--> B are no longer lovers and both become townies again.
(this could be an easy way for the SK's to rack up a ton of points- if they kill off C right away).
6. Another variation could be that C is simply the
Suave guy. His ability? Every night he can target another player, and that player will "fall" for him the next Day. They are informed they are his secret lover and that they shouldn't reveal themselves to the town.
-The Catch? they don't know it's a lie. The Suave guy basically can build up an army of people to NOT vote for him by making them think they're his lovers. The biggest problem would be when one of them (if one of them) reveals this message, as then the others would also note- hey wait! I'm your lover too! and penis ensues.
-->Of course, when a lover is killed, nothing REALLY happens, and obviously they're not revealed as being Suave guy's lover either, as that wasn't the case. Basically the role works out great unless one of your lovers trys to make it public... maybe right before he dies or something.
>_>
<_<
-->I'm really pleased with that role actually. If i was making a game right now, i'd stick him in there for fun.
7. The
Activator- his role cannot occur unless a specific action happens. The easiest variant- the bloodthirsty one. He cannot do his ability unless he was ON the lynch of whoever was killed that Day. or perhaps it has to be the opposite- he cannot perform his role if he voted that day for someone who was hanged (great for priestly/protective roles). It's something that you can easily toss onto another role to spice it up a bit. Not too much trouble and such.
8. The
Trapper- This player doesn't "protect' players per say, but every night he chooses a target, and sets up traps around them. If that player is attacked, the player is either role blocked, and the kill fails. Or you can make it bloodier and say the Killer just dies period, OR you can go with the "watcher" route, and say that the killer is marked in some way, and only the Trapper at dawn will recognize the mark on whoever the killer was (and the killer's kill goes through anyways).
9. The
Delusionist- basically starts out knowing the setup/premise of the game, except that he's completely wrong about it. Ie: he might know at first that there are two SKs at work- but he'll be told it's "The Undead Captain America" vs. "Evil Ash" as the SKs or something else completely out there. Each night give him small nuggets of truth, but completely surrounded in crazy lies. a Meh role, not to happy about it.
Meh, that's my cue that I'm running low on ideas off the cuff right now (when I just look at a role and go what the hell was I thinking?!? that's just weak sauce).
But yeah, there's SOME ideas to use (I REALLY like the Suave Guy sorta role btw)....
