Oh, and I killed Ed because
(a) I really didn't have any better ideas, though I should have seen Idle's pointer at One and Only
(b) I thought he was Town, was unlikely to be watched or protected, and had some level of suspicion of me.

And I see from the scum board that I was exactly right about who the chosen player was. Was I right about why?

We picked him because he's a typically low-post player, something that tends to serve the scum well.

I've been tinkering with a Dual Time-Zone game where there is always Day and Always Night so that there is always something going on. If you'd like to collaborate, that might be fun. If you want to drop me some details, I would be interested in helping out. It's one way to get a mafia fix without actually playing.

Is Natlaw correct? Should Natlaw have been blocked on Night Two?

Heh. In re-reading the Ash role to check on Natlaw's assertions I notice that scum can't kill Mrs. McGinty this Night. They can try, but she will survive. And if they do, they turn her into a compulsory vig, which would seal scum's fate too.
It also looks like Natlaw's interpretation of the rules is correct. Natlaw should have been blocked from protecting Idle Thoughts. Physically it we could explain it away by stating that his talisman works from a distance, but Mrs. McGinty's power clearly states 'anyone targeting your target.'
Ooops.

My vote was for Guiri, so you could have ended up scum

Well it was a fun run while it lasted. I'm actually glad to see that what frustrations I had were due to things going not as intended. As soon as the mass claim went down I was irked because any kill I made so long as Normal was alive hung my ass out to dry and that didn't seem fair, or fun to just sit in my hands the whole game, and the number of spawn provided plus the win condition of needing to survive to the final 4 did not make sitting on my hands and pretending to be a vanilla Townie very appealing. I was told by Story that Stan would not be informed of indigestion around the same time that he said he'd provide me a cover role. I actually wrote my own fake claim that would have allowed me to claim vig, claim my kills, and try to instill some paranoia but posing as an Alien-hunter, but I could not get around the "(if there are any)" disclaimer about Third Parties in everyone else's roles. I was afraid a claim that implied knowledge about a 3rd party would stand out too much. I really think I could have made a go of it if Normal had not been able to read Omi's corpse by just laying low until Normal was unlikely to be protected and then taking her out. I had similar reasons for killing Ed as Tom. I didn't think he was scum. Omi seemed like as good of a target as any for my first kill. Not likely to be watched or protected and I figured I'd save Story the trouble of trying to find a sub. Ironic.

Forgot to include the good stuff. Thanks for modding and coming up with a great game and writing the kick-ass color for us, Story. I hope things calm down for you soon.

Here is my frankenstein'd fake claim taking stuff from my actual PM and stuff I made up:
Welcome to the game; you are Ripley Hybrid Clone #G5823
ALIGNMENT: Town GENERIC: Informed Vigilante WIN CONDITION: All Scum and malicious third-parties (if any) have been vanquished.
BACKGROUND:
It has been a long flight in cryosleep, an unfortunate limitation caused by what little human DNA still lingers in your genetically modified footprint. As your ship orbits Earth, you review your mission files one last time before disembarking.
OBJECTIVE - To seek and destroy the xenomorph that escaped from the Nostromo as per attached recovered encrypted transmission:
"To: Roger Carter, Brig. Gen; From - Dallas, Captain, Shuttle Nostromo.
General: Code 615, Level 5. Primary specimen escaped. Life form is highly adaptable and disposed to violent confrontation. It is believed that specimen evacuated Nostromo in empty personnel escape pod. Trajectory analysis suggests pod made landfall somewhere in central Michigan; however, Recovery Team efforts have not located primary specimen at this time.
Specimen is reproductively viable, and expected to attempt breeding. Local residents should be advised to exercise extreme caution when approaching unfamiliar wildlife.
- Dallas"
But seriously…how many times are you going to have to clean up the bloody ethical messes of intergalactic corporations that keep popping you back into existence like some sort of anti-alien air freshener? You're a million light years away from anyone who even knows what your mission is, and scans of the target area show a cozy little cabin that would be perfect for retirement if not for the cast and crew of a Television show that just moved in. In spite of your devil-may-care alien apathy, you can't help but go down and try to keep as many of them as possible from becoming walking incubators. If you succeed, then you can kick the survivors out of your cabin and finally enjoy a life of rural leisure.
POWERS: 1. On any Night you may attempt to kill a target of your choice, killing them unless other powers intervene. You are not required to kill.
2. As you're already half alien, any attempt by an alien to deposit an egg in your thoracic cavity will fail and you will know that such an attempt has been made.

Cookies, We had a bit of discussion about what would be a good fake claim for you. The debate pretty much boiled down to the vanilla one you were given and an alien hunter claim that you came up with yourself. The downside to the alien hunter claim is that by endgame, Town would get mighty suspicious about the Alien Hunter in that neither the Alien had been found, nor had the Alien Hunter been killed. We figured it was a good claim to get you to mid-game but held too much 'true' information about the alien to be sufficiently plausible into endgame. At least that's how I looked at it.
I was rooting for you. I thought you were doing quite well.

Yeah I read through this thread yesterday and it does basically end up as 6 of one and half-dozen of another. If the PFK collective had managed to hit more town and less scum and not doubled up on targets, the body count would have been piling up faster toward my WC.

If you guys had stopped killing us, this game could have turned out totally different!

I'm only to blame for half of Ed's corpse.
