Question

Can I made an invention/device that will affect a targeted player- by having everyother player notice the device but not them?

Ie:
CAn i do something like:

You notice Atarus's fly is unzipped this morning.- and have that PM sent to every player but atarus in the AM?

(Probably not just on the sheer extra work for you- but worth a shot)

Target: BillMC

Device Counter: This one is tricky but not. The display will be (numbering with parenthesis is just to note order, not on the device):

1) |π|
2) |e|
3) |i|
4) 0 (and thus the bomb will "detonate") at the end of that Day.

So the bomb has a countdown from 3 to 0. The numbers are the absolute values of pi, euler's number, and the square root of -1. The reasoning is 2-fold. One, it's a nice lil' number sequence, slightly irrational and complex all in one.
2. It can spell out "pie"- that's pretty much the gist of my evil. :crazy:

So yeah, italics on the e, and i, and the pi symbol, you may need to cut and paste it from mine, but it's pi, and (if googled) takes you to PI on wikipedia. Absolute value signs | | are there simply because square root of negative 1 is just funky- theoretically the numbers are basically going in absolute terms 3.14--->2.78--->1 (well square root of one)... which I think is one if I remember my old HS math.

And now the Device:

Device Counter: Will count down to the next sequence every time a NEW character's Role PM is "quoted". It doesn't have to be a real one, it can be fake or whatever. But if someone quotes a part of a Role PM (or pretends like they're doing it*)- then the sequence is highlighted and the number counts down. [So yeah, make this one obvious that that's what triggered it].

*Obviously, since I don't know which Role PMs are real, nor is this device designed to either. I'm leaving it up to you to define it Old school way: "I'll know it when I see it."
Basically, name claims mean nothing, the attempt should be they're quoting some flavor, or some "passage" in the style of their Role PM, so Character name; Flavor; quote; powers.

Not someone guessing about another person or anything like. Just a "Hey, story said I'm this, and this is what my PM says" (formatting doesn't matter- I don't care if they actually use the quote feature or cite you or not)- it's the intent of the player that'll trigger it more so, ya know?
Example: If i quote a part of my role PM, and I don't tell you I'm doing so. The device isn't triggered. But If i say "this is my role PM look!"- and then make up some shit but it fits that role PM style- the device triggers. I feel like this is more intuitive than I'm explaining it.
I think you understand what I'm gettting at.
And if not, I'll be fine if you leave it to your best judgement.
But just citing names means nothing. There has to be more than just a name. So someone cites Alighnment, if there's no name or anything else- that won't really trigger it (or maybe it will, that'd make it interesting. I'll leave it to you).

You just make sure to quote the part or name or just the quoting of you, and note that's what caused device to change.

-Final part to the device's counter- only NEW Role Claims may change it. The people who've not claimed officially:
Peeker, scathach, sinjin, Total Ullz, Sbrown, Gnarlycharley, Plankton, Gadarene, BillMC, Meeko, Hal
-Obviously, the device will only count down if one of us attempts to do the above

If an other already claimed player tries to claim a new role- too bad. The device won't trigger.

So what's the device look like?

It's a Shotgun, loaded and duct taped to BillMC's chest, pointing straight into his lower jaw. The Device is attached over the trigger, and the wiring and ticking mechanism shows it's attached to a lever to the trigger. Simple, practical, and yes the gun is loaded.


No one in town is apparently clever enough to think of just cutting off the duct tape or putting the safety on. If you want, you can say there's some thin hidden wiring underneath the tape that looks like if you tamper with the ducttape or wriggle it, the bomb looks like it'll go off. But I don't really care.

Device- what does it do?

-When it detonates, it will explode in a puff of Gold and Silver confetti with white smoke, and a tiny fanfare of trumpets.
BillMC will be dressed in a shiny black Kevlar Batsuit, armed with deadly sharp spikes, a lush heavy duty cowl, and reinforced mask. The suit looks worn out, and has seen some use, and is marked with bloodstains and some caustic acid burns are seen on the suit as well as wearing out the fibers of his cape.
BillMC is also unusually only one pair of his shoes, but is missing his right shoe, only having on his trusty Bat-Sock on that foot. Minor details.
He is also wearing a shining metallic belt, loaded with several canisters and pellets and devices on it, as well as 2 canisters at his side that read: "Bat Shark-Repellant" and "Bat-Lynch Repellant".

During all subsequent flavor texts for end/start of days, he will randomly be noted by the other members of the town as giving off a sound clip from his reinforced signature helm, from a tiny microphone "I'm Batman!" "I'm Batman!" in a ridiculous bass voice.

-The suit obviously, does nothing. But it looks VERY damn cool and Shiny. The socks w/o shoes are obviously another mention of the Shu's fiasco. And the Sock is simply a shout out to SBrown being a sock basically.
-The Night Bussing Device tactic was to skip the device, and just have a player show up with a nearly identical costume to this at the start of the day. Except urinating blue pee as well.
-This is a fancier and trickier suit, but this one is also going to be much harder to activate, especially after Town realizes (probably after the lynch of not-texcat) that the device activated when someone basically claimed as they were headed to the lynch.
We'll see what this does to players like meeko and all.

Also, I'm just curious to see what BillMC does. I figure he's going to ignore it until the countdown is triggered. Then we'll see how he plays under a lil' stress. This is just to study him better. If he's the doctor I'm fucked, otherwise, this should be fun.

My alternative Device- was to give an alternative device to Cookies- one that she would not realized was placed on her- where it's basically a device that makes everyone else smell kerosene in the AM via a pm/private message, but Cookies is unaware of this message. And as long as Cookies lives, every night, the device makes everyone smell Kerosene in the AM.

Day 5 Thoughts

HELL YEAH! ;D


Now this is what I call a party! We've got wine flowing by the gallon, mass confusion, and chaos by the Daybreak! I love the smell of Anarchy in the morning!

And one doctor dead, and one more investigator bites the dust.
16 players left, 15 others besides moi. Now we're in Part 2 of the Survivalist game. We've made it to the half-way point. Now we can start to think about planning for the endgame, but still can't get our hopes up. The next part is part 3- and that's when there's 10 or less, basically the final 1/3 of the original players.
And then Part 4 is LyLo- the last phase for the Survivor.

And still no suspicion or votes for me!
I was getting worried last Night with Cookies coming after me. I was talking too much, and she was getting to close to keep asking me things. But she's DEAD! Perfect! Just what I wanted for Xmas!

And I'm so proud of Idle Thoughts I'm glad he's going out in style, and not with a whimper like yesterday. To find out that the "poor pitiful me" Metagame play was a ruse..... Why it makes the Ro0sh in me Proud. THAT'S THE WAY TO MANIPULATE US! ATTABOY!

I'm glad to know the MASSIVE SCUM distraction is alive and well, and still being used- with the massive amounts of Wine that Idle gets to pour toDay. I'm happy for him that I'm actually grinning right now. Everything he says or does at this point will be covered in WIFOM- are there really 2 scum left besides him (plausible), is he voting for Hal to throw us off Hal as being scum, or is that what he wants us to think and Hal is really Town? [I'm entertaining both thoughts], is Plankton really 3rd party- and not just the other Scum playing along to try to confuse us further and gain more credibility? [Plankton- could very plausibly be scum or 3rd party, dunno. I like the scum idea though].

Pollux's idea of a mass claim bothers me. I don't like it- I want to delay my reveal for as LONG as possible. or at least until I've gotten to phrase 3 of my plans (1/3 Population left). 16 is just TOO high a number for me to keep trying to survive, especially if we only lose 2-3 a day? That's still a potential 5 days of the game to go on. I expect this game could go 10 days, and if that's the case, I'm treating this as the halfway point (phase II).
So yeah, I'm anti-Claims at this point.

Especially as devices not proven yet.

But man, BillMC's Batman suit. That's just a ticking time bomb (also, little irked you got rid of the absolute numbers/devices thing- but :shrug: it doesn't really matter anyways. Just one less distraction for the town).

This is where I've got to try to prolong the full claims, and try to survive. And where being a "n00b" helps me.
My goal for toDay: full on Dotchan "WHAT IS GOING ON ?" Mode. I need to ooze confused townie by the gallon, and smear my confusion all over my clueless self. SBrown needs to go to pieces, and just confused toDay- it makes her less of an NK target by scum and by PFK.

This way, I'm seen better as a potential endgame voting body, and less likely a threat. That's why arguing with Lightfoot last night was done. 2 goals: Needle LF and continue to poke the "emotional" player; but also, try to create a little bit of tension to try to keep her alive another Day and for scum to play us off each other. Same reason I keep saying Ullz isn't confirmed 100%

Because 1. She's not and not until Death, confirmed- said by the PLAYER WHO ISN'T REAL, that's how deep this shit goes!
2. Because any doubt that we smear on her, is a potential reason for scum to try to keep a potential Townie alive. I fear if we don't keep her in doubts, and everyone agrees shes town, she'll be the next NK target for scum.

That said.
16 players left- potentially 2-4 scum left. 1/4 of the remaining players could be scum, or 1/3....

Which side am I on at this point? :crazy:
Both of 'em still. Hence, the confused Townie. I WANT to get to Endgames, that's all. Phase IV is what I want, i don't care WHO DIES to get to that point, as long as I'm not suspicious. That's ALL i want (which is why toDay is PERFECT for me, but the Mass Claim isn't for me- it's the one way to make myself instantly suspicious).

I feel like a mix of the Dotchan, the RooshianNoise of Idle, and as long as Pollux gains NO momentum on the mass claim, I just might be able to survive another Day.

But man, that was a great start to Day 5- I love the JokerCommentary, because I really do not know if I can trust the guy, the 99% vs. 100% discussion last night- I, Ro0sh, totally believe that, but that's because I like in a bactatank of WIFOM.

If I was Town, man, I'd hate toDay's confusion, and I'd be superparanoid of Idle's thoughts. And the prospect of a Bomb, but I'm going to play the odds on that one. That said, sometimes its nice to be the Survivor, and toDay looks like one of those Days- I can just sit back, enjoy the noise, try to "contribute", but really just act like a chicken with its head cut off, and try to avoid getting smeared and cooked. Sounds like a Plan!

Just a mention, that this is the time of the year that I tend to browse the Dope, and maybe even step in to make a post or two.

So I did.

I made myself a Substitute in Pizzaguy's new game.
I look forwards to playing with you again. And the challenge of possibly juggling two games at once without revealing that this is the case. <_<

God damn. The town has lost it's mind.

Atarus is coming up with the ridiculous plans of the mass claim. That's why I NEED the BILLMC Device to trigger. So i can then j'accuse Pollux of trying to get us all killed, and hopefully get him to back down.

The problem is- I know Pollux. He's NOT a coward, and he's NOT a 'regular' mafia player. He's trying to earn his way towards that Storyteller Level spot. He'll be a tough one to outwit. And he was the one player the entire game I've been trying to go head to head with to see if he'd figure out it was me in here.....

So well played, Pollux, he's put me in check. And my reaction is only going to fuel him to further cast suspicion towards me waiting for my reveal. Tsk.
Doesn't help that my name is Anarky. Sounds like the perfect PFK name. The only thing that helps is he was saying that he doesn't care about PFKs right now. But still.
He may think I'm scum rather than PFK.
And that's the problem.

We need to buy some time- where's the goddamn air support? We NEED BILLMC to count down!

And fucking Hal went silent! He's getting scummier/suspicious in my eyes for it- he's laying low in all the name calling and chaos.

I have half a mind to wonder- does Idle's power maybe give him an extra kill... against someone who IS NOT voting for him? Since he is modconfirmed as scum, maybe the power would be everyone piles on him, but if someone doesnt, he can kill them? That's why I feel safter with my vote ON Idle, rather than off him.


Also- The whole "Why didn't Idle count you down" argument. Well done, I hadn't even considered anyone would blatantly do it.

Town falls apart and turns on each other on Day5. Idle's effectively Rooshing them all. Pollux went from logical pro-townie player, to a super-frustrated townie, that's smearing everyone right now.
I know that's a great way to rattle him, but it's tough to rattle him like that. And he's my friend- I don't actually LIKE to upset/piss him off.
A game is just a game, ya know? But damn. Well done, Idle!

Now the fear i have- did you actually do the costumes and all- yes this thought has crossed my mind, that the bombs are all duds and i'm fucked. One more reason i didnt want to be first to go boom.

And also, I wonder how long i can lurk like this? I've already gotten Sbrown's "apology" post ready in my head. I think i can milk this for another Day though. It's evil, but it's necessary for Pollux.

That said. I think I'll probably have to stop lurking tomorrow and post again. It is nice though, as I do have some real life work that I have to do the next 2 weeks. And since i've joined a 2nd mafia game, and the Dopers D&D thing, it's nice to have a lil' break.
Even if I didn't intend for it to last this long.
Also glad the Townies started to figure out Bill's device. Though I didn't realize on first read- his lights were all off. So it's 4 reveals for him to die. Which IS what I had planned, but I didn't realize I had put that in the pm, I thought it'd be 3 role PM reveals. But i like 4 better.

That said, toMorrow will be a tough Day-
-Mass Claim to beware
-Townie Breakdown/Absence
-Devices explained somewhat....
-Idle smearing me by doing nothing vs. my device.

I don't see myself as lasting more than Day 7 now. I'm going to die Day 7 if not Day 6's Mass Claim. <_<

I gotta hand it to you, Story, that was one twist I was wondering if I should expect it or not- you never said "yes/okay" to my devices completely, and you had been changing the flavors. So I still fear one device might actually kill someone, but the others, I'm just interested to see what they are now.
Also, so much for my claim that my devices are Clues to help us with the game.
The sheep one is pure uselessness- unless i can spin that into townie cred..... Sbrown has no idea why sheep are so amusing to Hal. There's NO WAY she'd have "made up" that device.

But i'm in a slump. I've lost my fake Claim, I've forgotten my devices, and they're not quite what I expected them to be. And real life is always slightly in the background. And I know I'm not likely to win. But you can't help but get your hopes up.

Hmmm....

How about this: Device on Mahaloth.

It's the black bomb device/countdown as usual. It'll start at 4 and count down.
Trigger: Everytime Nanook votes, it counts down.


No. STICK TO THE PLAN. No improvising right now. This was the last Bomb idea I had already premade that I can recall. I've gotta use it.

Target of Device: Put it on Sinjin
Device: It's the usual black box device with countdown on the front, but this one is different. It is smashed and broken with wires coming out of it, and the clock stopped (on the Number 9), gears are shown sprung out and there appears to be a batarang wedged into the box with blue ink leaking out of the device as if it's been tampered. There's also a plastic explosives putty thing attached to the device, but it's all hanging off the device and looks obviously detached/inactivated. All of this wires/gears etc and all are wrapped around Sinjin



What the Device Does:
Sinjin is covered with a blue spray of paint (as if from the box), and is urinating Blue every time she votes/unvotes.



Basically, everytime she votes/unvotes, the town will notice she's leaking Blue "fluids" down her outfit/down her leg, however you want to tastefully do it. But we're going with Public Blue Pee everytime she votes/unvotes.

Alight. In the words of another great Player and Role Model:

Fucking Doldrums, how do they work? Life sorta kicked my ass, that Townie Breakdown may have had a little more truth to it than I liked in my venting, but it's served my purpose. It's kept me alive a little bit longer, and now, we've got nothing to lose. We've had some fun times, and we've gotta KEEP having the fun times! Rock and Roll ALL NIGHT! Party EVERY Day! ALL RIGHT!

So- 15 players left. Officially made it to the 50% mark. Phase three is to make it to the final 8- that'll be the last 75% basically and we start to think about LyLo.

At this point, I know I've got probably 1, maybe 2 scum out there to deal with. And one PFK is likely. Maybe 2 but that's doubtful.

So that's 3 players standing between me and my victory.

Obviously, we're going to have to hedge our bets on the Town victory condiiton, and to avoid the PFK at all costs. That's the one player who needs to die.

I wonder if it's Texcat or Suburban. That's the Scum WiFOM.

But before Idle's Chaos Bomb, my initial thought- was Sinjin.
Hence she's getting the Blue Pee Bomb. A clue from the old days of Replicants to her role there, and more reasoning for why she'd be 3rd party/PFK.


My goal is to see a Sinjin Lynch toDay, or to have enough claims that we have a BillMC NK or Lynch on Day 7. I'm working without a net here though, because I don't have a safe role claim up and ready to go right away, nor the time to make another Townie one. It just requires deletion of the "Recruitment" possibility and the simplification of the Powers list mostly, but still. There were a few lil' edits in the flavor to make it seem more townie.

Maybe I can do that tomorrow. That'll need to get down.

I feel all alone in my little spaceship, like Darth Vader hurtling through space. I've got to regain control, and I've got to return for the sequels.
But man, that was a good clash with Pollux. Definitely fun- not quite as intense as my battles with you, Storyteller, and less nerve wracking. As I don't think you'd let me get away with ANY sort of Townie Breakdown tactics. Especially not if I was Ro0sh. Even Sbrown SHOULD get some suspicion for leaving for basically 5 days almost like that, it's pure lurkism at it's worst, but happened to be a mix of Townie breakdown, doldrums, and then real life kicking my ass. Usually if I'm not sending you tons of messages a Day- yeah, something's going on in real life too.

That and volunteering to play on the Dope Mafia game too And then also volunteering for the Dopers D&D game. At least i sucked Pollux into that D&D one too.

And btw, Story, you haven't show up yet to the Mafia game. The Day is going to end tomorrow. I've been waiting for ya, and I'd hate to see you go down. Then again, if you're intentionally lurking... well more power to ya.

That said, Playing with the new breed of Mafia players... it's unusual. They're a lot more reckless- probably from FB mafia more so, and WAY less logical. Not as emotional per se, but just reckless. More loose voting, more OMGUS's w/o thought, and just more careless.
It's not quite the "pure" breed of Mafia that I remember... then again, sometimes I feel like it's just similar to how I probably played when I first stated. Though I'd like to think I was less chaotic, and more logical. :shrug:

We'll see. They all seem to respect your name though. Mine has been lost to time.
That's one reason I'd like to try to win this Mafia Game. Which was a problem last Week- I got TOO caught up in the idea of Winning. Which is the downfall for ANY player regardless of side. Mafia is a TEAM sport. The team is greater than the self. But as a Survivor, i have nothing BUT THE self. Which gets lonely. And sucky. I have to basically prepare myself for daily Death.

But yeah, as I was saying, my idea goal would be to win, and come back in a triumph. And as a little way to let the Pizzas, Lightfoots, and Silver Jans of the world know that the Old Man of Mafia's still got it, ya know?

I guess I just play Mafia differently than most players. Not logical enough to be purely like the "great scum hunters", but not blindly and chaotic enough to be like the Meeks, Peeks, and Visorslashes of the world either.

BACKGROUND:
Like another, more famous teenager, you've always been generally opposed to any kind of -isms. Capital-, social-, fac-, commun-, antidisestablishmentarian-... all of them strike you as selfish, evil, and stupid. You consider yourself a lonely voice of freedom in a shackled world, and you fight as best you can in defense of the right of individual freedom. And if you get to blow up a few things as a part of that fight, so much the better. You've turned your natural inclination toward technology to the creation of items to fight against the hegemony of whoever appears to be hegemoning at any given time. And boy, have you had fun.

The Batman and his colleagues have always opposed your work, and their success will mean that they will continue to stand in the way of what is right. Gotham is nothing more than a dystopian decaying city with Big Brother Bats front and center. At least, it's no Metropolis, but Gotham is still your precious baby.

You are not alone in your fight though, you have allied with those who oppose Big Brother and his compatriots; allies who relish the mantle of personal freedoms and individuality. But you are no fighter. You will have to keep your head down and your wits around you - leaving you the freedom for your more noble pursuits while the battle reigns in the night.

Until then, you will use your unusual... talents to sow confusion and chaos and let it benefit the weary, downtrodden, deserving masses in the Town. Let Anarky rule the knight.

POWERS:
While you are no coward, neither are you an idiot. If you annoy the big fish too much, they might eat you. You have an unlimited supply of devices for the revolution with which you can target any player by Night. However, none of them will be within your specific control- you can't always follow where the revolution goes, and sometimes must follow along for the ride. The device is as follows:

1. The device is a tool of the masses to spread confusion and chaos, helping those in need and showing how people act under the best... and worst of circumstances. However, you know that true anarchy means power to the people at the expense of the self. You will not know what the item is or does, instead only choosing the worthy target. The device will be created by the whims and decisions of the chaotic masses of the spoiled threads, and may or may not have clues to benefit various sides. These clues and devices may be anything related to the Night or may do anything to the target Color-wise but will not harm the target. The devices are always nonlethal, but the results will certainly be unexpected- your fates rest in the hands of the chaotic masses, let us hope they serve you well!

I think I actually tweaked it a lil' more prior to posting. But this is the 4th version of my Role PM that I created. I had a 3rd party version, and a Town version, but had lost them.
